Open Letter To the Town Board of Supervisors Emailed February 13, 2009

Dear Town Board of Supervisors:

We are puzzled as to why you never respond to our emails.  We would very much like to hear from you.  Do you not want to talk with us?

I have sent several emails to your "Press Liaison", Beth Fischlowitz, but she has yet to respond to anything from us to date.  Do we need to make "Public Information Requests" do get a response?

The Town Plan Commission is having another public hearing on February 18th.

Many residents complained that they were having a hard time keeping informed about these proposed changes and some of you told them that you are working on a website to help keep them informed.

Our website is getting 40-50 hits a day by people wanting to know what's is going on in town government.

Some of you have been talking for over a year about getting a website up and running, but yet it is still not up yet, despite statements from from Ric Gillman at Town Meetings stating "It will be up and running in 30 days", which was in November.  Do you need to have a few more meetings, maybe?

By the way, what is the websites domain name?  (For those of you that don't know a "domain name is", it is your www.webaddress.com).

Have you even have obtained that yet?

I realize this "internet thing" may be still kind of new to some of you, but it is here to stay.

I'm sure that this email will go ignored, along with the others, but in the past, at least one of you has had the nerve to responded.

However, I'm not holding my breath.

REPLIES:

This is the 1st E-Mail I have ever received from you.  I have been advised to not do Town business via E-Mail.

Any written correspondence from me must be dated and time stamped at the Town Hall in order to assure Public Information requests are met.  I would be more than happy to meet or talk by phone regarding any Questions you may have.

OPEN LETTER TO MIKE STARCK

EMAILED:  FEBRUARY 15th

Dear Mr. Starck:

Thanks for the reply.

Did you not get our email inviting you to send us a copy of the answers to Evan Erickson's questions in the Gazette?

So far, two of the candidates have responded.

As a candidate  running for re-election, AND as a Town Plan Commissioner, maybe you can answer this question:

Currently there is a new camping ordinance being proposed by the TPC.  We know you and the TPC have been working on this ordinance for over a year.  Our question to you, as a TPC Commissioner is:

Currently Ashland County has restrictions on camping.

Has camping on privately owned lands on Madeline Island become such a problem that an ordinance is now needed to restrict it further?

As a member of the Town Plan Commission, we would assume your answer to be "yes".

However, I am giving you a chance to tell us if YOU believe this ordinance is needed or not needed and why.

This is NOT a public information request, just a simple request to explain your position.

Sincerely,

Edward Itor
