2009 LA POINTE CANDIDATES AND ELECTION INFORMATION
POSTED: MARCH 30
I want all of Town Government to follow good process and a policy of complete openness.
if we had followed the right processes for the Zoning Changes, we would have content that would be much less controversial. People are baffled by the changes proposed to the Zoning Ordinance. Some people even believe that the content and process has been hidden from the citizens.
The appearance that this is so is tremendous. The content is unpopular and confusing. When public scrutiny is demanded, the writers of the new Ordinance pull into defensive positions and claim that rumors and personal attacks are to blame. There has been no meaningful public input, no maps displaying changes to districts, and a good deal of verbal blurring about what the final product actually is.
I want full disclosure and public input into all Zoning changes proposed by the TPC. We have been assured that the “text changes” that have been sent to Ashland County will be open to a public hearing. There will be a public hearing, but the subject of the public hearing will be only for the numbering of the new Ordinance, Section 450. The text changes will be law by that time
If these changes are OK’d by Ashland County, they become our ordinance upon posting. You will have no further right to be heard, except on how to number the new ordinance.
If elected, I will do all that I can to make sure that meaningful input from the public influences these Zoning Changes and all Town Government actions. It may not be too late to have citizen input to the Zoning Revision.
I want responsive and responsible government. It is time for a change… a significant change on the Town Board.
I promise to be an effective supervisor of the TPC and Carl Broberg.
